Art 7D
This is a class where the relationships of fields Art, Design, Science and Technology are emphasized. In modern days, these four fields are closely related and always overlap/collaborate with each other. The class aims to let students take on a project that would showcase the relationships among these fields and presents such projects to the class.
Gream App Design
This project combines the use of Art, Science and Technology. The aim of the project is to create a futuristic design that would bring an impact to society. MY goal was to create a futuristic device that acts like Google Home/Amazon Alexa, with AI technology combining with MR (mixed reality) technology that creates different scenes for people to meditate in (kind of like Holodeck in Star Trek). The device is aimed to promote mental health through meditation with the device (along with an app that could control the device) especially through stressful times like COVID-19 where going out to travel is no longer an option.
First, the technology part of the project, was to design the device. My inspiration was from AI technologies that we have now - Google Home, Apple Home, Echo Dot etc. but I wanted to have a device that combines that with a Himalayan Salt Lamp, which calms people and emit lights. Since my whole project was created to promote mental health, I think that it would be great if we could place our hands on the device and it could detect our brain waves (EEG) and change our environment with MR technology based on how our mood is.
Since this class places huge emphases on how Science, Technology, Art and Design intersects and how these fields collaborate. I wanted to make my device a little more realistic. So I worked with my brother who's majoring in Engineering to help create a 3D model of how the actual device would look like if it were to be created.
After the technology and science part of the project, I had to design the user interface of the app. This is my second time using Adobe XD for UI/UX Design, since my first time of using Adobe XD was during a competition for the MTV Adobe Creative Jam. After designing the app, I actually connected it to my mobile phone to ensure the pages are working efficiently.
